Tiora is a family memory preservation service. We digitise your physical photographs, letters and documents and organise them into a private digital archive that your family can access and care for together.
Your place is confirmed and your scan reference is created. You'll receive your transfer box with five numbered dividers. Sort your materials into the five chapters of your life, however that feels right to you. Send your box to us and we handle everything from here: scanning, processing and structuring your archive. Your archive is presented to you once complete. We walk through the five chapters together and set up who in your family can access it. Then your archive is live.
Once digitisation is complete, your archive is formally presented to you. We walk through the five chapters together, confirm the structure feels right and set up your family's access roles. This is when your archive becomes live for your family to use.
When you receive your transfer box, it contains dividers. You decide what each chapter represents: childhood, career, family, travel or whatever feels meaningful to you. We scan your materials in the order you've set and this provides your archive a starting structure.
Your archive is structured around chapters you created during sorting. Chapters can be edited and added as time goes by. Within each chapter, your items are displayed in the order they were scanned, with any dates, names or handwritten notes we've identified shown alongside each item.
Yes. You can search by date, name or keywords from any text found on or behind your photographs. Search works across your full archive.
We are launching an archive function that allows access to your local and cloud based files. We'll let you know when this is available.
The Founder and Co-Custodian can manage the archive, including editing details and adjusting chapter structure. Other family members have view access.
Only the people you invite. Your archive is completely private. There is no public listing, no social layer and no way for anyone to discover it without an invitation.
Every archive has a Founder (the person who created it), with full control over structure, permissions and membership. A Co-Custodian is a trusted partner with the same management access as the Founder (one per archive). Active Members are family members who can view and interact with the archive (up to four). View-Only members can browse the archive but not make changes.
Yes. The Founder can update roles at any time from the governance view in your account.
We take this seriously and it's part of why the role structure exists. Your Co-Custodian has full management access from day one. We're building additional succession planning into the platform. We'll walk you through the options as they become available.
On secure Australian cloud infrastructure. Your files are encrypted in transit and at rest.
Yes. No indexing, no public discovery, no data sharing, no advertising. Your archive exists for your family and no one else.
Yes. All significant access and changes within your archive are logged.
Every item is tracked from the moment it arrives. We scan using archival-grade equipment at 600 DPI and your originals are never altered in any way. Once digitisation is complete, your materials are securely returned to you.
Your materials are covered under our handling protocols and insurance for the duration they're in our care. If anything were to happen, we'd contact you directly and work through it together.
Digitisation of your physical materials (up to the agreed scope), your archive onboarding, your private family archive and ongoing access for your invited family members.
Your membership terms are set out in your Founding Member Agreement. You'll always have the option to export your archive before any account closure.
Cancelling means more than losing access to your files. It means losing the governance layer that controls who can see what, the succession structure that protects your archive across generations and the ability to continue growing and organising it as your family changes. Your raw unnamed files will still exist. The structure around them will not.
Current versions of Chrome, Safari and Edge. We recommend using a laptop or desktop for the best experience, though the archive works on mobile.
